Will Ephraim knows to build a program, it’s best to start by building up his younger players.

And this fall, Fort Vancouver will have a lot of young players on the roster.

“I think we’ve had good signs of commitment over the summer,” the Trappers’ second-year coach said. “And really, it’s been the younger men that have shown that commitment. I really appreciate how the younger men have been working in the offseason — doing 7-on-7s, coming to the weight room and doing the conditioning.”

But with just three seniors on the roster with playing experience, Ephraim also will have to lean on younger players to be leaders.

That’s a role he hopes junior Javeer Bunnell can fill this fall.
