GENESEE CO., Mich. (WNEM) – A former police officer charged following a Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team (GHOST) operation has accepted a guilty plea.

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson released an update on Jeffrey Morningstar on Monday, Aug. 25. Morningstar is a 61-year-old man that served as an officer for 20 years in both Michigan and Florida, Swanson said.

In August of 2024, GHOST had a decoy act as trafficker selling a 15-year-old in Burton. Morningstar responded to the sting, wanting to pay to have sex with the minor, leading to a warrant for his arrest, the sheriff’s office said.
