England flags painted on a zebra crossing in Bilsthorpe

Nottinghamshire is one of the latest counties in England to join 'Operation Raise the Colours' as flags have started appearing at roundabouts and painted on roads. The campaign has been spreading across the country in the past week, having started in Birmingham and London.

This follows a string of anti-illegal immigration protests, including in Sutton-in-Ashfield and Newark , which counter-protesters have labelled as 'far right'. England flags have been painted on zebra crossings and broken road markings on Mickledale Lane and Eakring Road in Bilsthorpe.
