John Yates has been jailed for five years and four months
A Nottingham pensioner has been jailed after an "opportunistic and predatory" sexual assault against a teenage girl. Police say 70-year-old John Yates assaulted the victim in May 2021 - an incident the force says they became aware of several months later.
While being questioned by detectives, Yates refused to answer and gave a string of 'no-comment' replies. The pensioner - whose home address was not given by police - later pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, August 19 , he was jailed for five years and four months. He was also added to the Sex Offenders' Register and the subject of a court ban which will stop
