A 21-year-old Clinton man sustained non-life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon in a shooting near Stetson and West Still streets, prompting renewed calls from law enforcement for community involvement in investigations.

According to Clinton Police Chief Anthony Davis, officers were dispatched at approximately 2:09 p.m. on Aug. 25. When they arrived at the scene, they found multiple spent shell casings in the roadway, confirming that gunfire had occurred in the neighborhood.

Shortly after police responded, a private vehicle transported the victim, identified as Jerry Boykin, 21, of Clinton, to Sampson Regional Medical Center. Hospital staff reported Boykin was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
