HAMPTON, Neb. (KSNB) - One person has died after a crash on Interstate 80 in Hamilton County Tuesday.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the one-vehicle crash west of the Hampton interchange on eastbound I-80.

The sheriff said witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and rolled several times into the south ditch.

Sheriff Jeromy McCoy said in an email response that the sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected. He was taken to the hospital in Aurora, where he died from his injuries.

Nebraska 511 said the right shoulder was blocked off at 1:48 p.m. but that has since cleared.
