MAYFIELD, Ky. (KFVS) - A New Mexico man was arrested in connection with a stabbing in western Kentucky.

Victor Manuel Moya-Hernandez, 39, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree assault.

On August 24, the Mayfield Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of North 4th Street for a stabbing.

Graves County sheriff’s deputies also responded.

According to police, they found a 39-year-old man with a stab wound to his back. They say the suspect left the area before they arrived.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and later airlifted to a Nashville hospital in stable condition.

Police identified the suspect as Moya-Hernandez and tracked him to a hotel in Cairo, Illinois, where Cairo police found his vehicle.
