For the second time this year, the Oklahoma State Board of Education has canceled its regular monthly meeting on short notice.

A cancellation notice for Thursday’s 9:30 a.m. meeting was posted around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning to the Oklahoma State Department of Education website.

OSDE spokeswoman Madison Cercy said via email that the cancellation was due to transitions within agency staff and legal team.

In a letter dated Aug. 12 , Tulsa-based law firm Norman Wohlgemuth Attorneys at Law withdrew as the board’s general counsel. The firm was retained in 2024 before four of the board’s current members were appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt and its representative at board meetings, Chad Kutmas, frequently sided with state Superintendent Ryan Walte
