MADISON, Wis. (WBAY/AP) - Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday formally requested a presidential disaster declaration from President Donald Trump in response to severe storms and flooding.
Earlier this month, the Associated Press reported the Milwaukee area was hit with unofficial records in Wisconsin of more than 14 inches (36 centimeters) in less than 24 hours, leading multiple rivers to flood at record-high levels, washing out vehicles, flooding basements and cutting power to thousands of homes.
The governor’s office said the flooding led to significant damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure across six Wisconsin counties.
The request includes Milwaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Individual Assistance program . I
