GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A bald eagle found at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve, injured and on the ground a couple of months ago, took flight once again.

It’s now back in the wild after being treated at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.

A Brown County Park ranger brought the eagle there, where they helped it heal so it could be well enough to fly and be successful in the wild.

The wildlife sanctuary said eagles were once on the brink of extinction in the 70s but now have many nest sites in the area.

Officials said an adult eagle helped train the injured eagle and get her ready to return to the wild.
