COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities have identified a man killed after a shooting involving Richland County deputies on Tuesday.

Richland County Coroner Nadia Rutherford said 42-year-old Antonio D. Toney, of Columbia, died after an incident on the 300 block of Ovanta Road.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said that deputies responded to reports of shots fired just before 10 a.m. on Monday.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott later said that Toney reportedly fired at construction workers completing work on the road in front of their home. Lott said that Toney went back inside the home and talked with deputies through a window.
