NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A Lowcountry man was arrested a week ago in connection to his alleged possession of child sexual abuse materials.

Vicente Tapia Diaz, 36, of North Charleston, is charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office says Mount Pleasant Police Department investigators made the arrest Aug. 20 with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations.

Diaz faces up to 60 years in prison if found guilty on all charges.

Jail records show he also has a drug charge from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Diaz is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center on a $307,500 bond for all charges and is also being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
