A brazen daylight theft at an LCBO store in Kitchener’s Pioneer Park Plaza over the weekend has caught the attention of Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who expressed frustration and called for a “tough on crime” approach.

The premier also contacted Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) Chief Mark Crowell on Wednesday morning to discuss the incident.

Captured on a now-viral video, the robbery took place on Saturday at approximately 4:30 p.m. According to police, six men entered the store on Pioneer Drive and began filling large bags with bottles of alcohol. The bags were mostly filled with scotch, estimated to be worth approximately $8,000.
