Police are looking into a series of distraction thefts targeting older adults throughout Waterloo Region.

Waterloo Regional Police said the incidents follow the same pattern, with suspects approaching the victim while in a vehicle and offering what appears to be a gift of jewelry. The items are later determined to be fake gold.

Police urge residents to share this information with older family members, friends, and neighbours.
