BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Brownsville man has been sentenced for a shooting that led to a little girl being hit by a bullet, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced.

Baleek Habersham, 26, pleaded guilty to attempted murder in June for the shooting that occurred in 2022.

On March 25, 2022, Habersham, an alleged member of a Brownsville-based gang called CHOO, got out of his vehicle on Riverside Avenue near Amboy Street and opened fire in the direction of a man putting a child into his car.

According to evidence, Habersham mistakenly believed the man to be a member of a rival gang, WOOO. One of the shots fired by Habersham struck a three-year-old girl in the shoulder while she was walking down the street with her dad after daycare.
