A man working out inside an Elizabeth, New Jersey, Planet Fitness died Tuesday afternoon when a driver crashed into the building, Elizabeth City spokeswoman Ruby Contreras told NJ Advance Media.

A 69-year-old woman was driving the car when she struck the front of the building, on Newark Avenue, at 12:20 p.m., Contreras said.

The driver, who was not identified, suffered injuries from her airbag deploying, the spokeswoman said.

The man who died was 72 and was near the front window when the woman’s car broke through, she said.

A 59-year-old man on a treadmill suffered cuts and scrapes, Contreras said.

The incident is under investigation by the Elizabeth Police Department. Contreras said all parties involved were cooperating with authorities.
