Multiple agencies have joined in an investigation into the death of Bryan Vasquez, 12, an autistic boy whose body was found early Tuesday in a New Orleans East lagoon nearly two weeks after he went missing. Officials say the boy was killed by alligators and drowned. His death remains unclassified.

New Orleans police confirmed that Bryan’s mother, Hilda Vasquez, has been served with a search warrant and had her phone confiscated as part of the investigation.

Her criminal history is under review as part of the wider investigation by police, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services, said NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
