When longtime Bishop Amat football coach Steve Hagerty resigned in November after 17 years in charge, many figured that Sean Koelle would take over.

Koelle is an alum with an “Amat 98” license plate. He was an assistant football coach at Amat for 16 seasons before joining Troy Thomas’ Servite powerhouse as its offensive coordinator in 2020 and ’21. He helped develop quarterback Noah Fifita, who now playing in college at the University of Arizona.
