(WAND) - More than $8 million in federal funding is coming for Central Illinois airports, including the Decatur Airport.

The Decatur Park District, which runs the Decatur Airport, received $153,126 for new wind cones, new runway lighting and signage construction.

Other facilities receiving funding included Bloomington's Central Illinois Regional Airport and Peoria's General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport.

"By improving airport infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for increased connectivity and reliability. This federal funding for airports across Central Illinois will upgrade infrastructure, improve travel efficiency, and promote economic growth," said Senator Dick Durbin in an Aug. 27 press release.
