It’s a small ID badge they wear that is designed to improve school safety.

The badge allows staff to instantly alert school security and law enforcement in the event of a critical incident, providing what officials call an extra layer of protection with just the click of a button.

District officials say the badge connects through Bluetooth and only works on school grounds.

They emphasize it is not an invasion of privacy and does not track personal information.
