Since July, the funding has been awarded for 58 new SRO positions, according to the Governor's office.
McMaster said he wanted to make public safety roles in schools a priority after observing a shortfall in SROs in 2018. At the time, he said there were only 406 full-time SRO roles filled out of 1,283 public schools statewide.
