AYDEN, N.C. (WITN) - Students could be seen hard at work on the third day of school at Ayden Elementary on Wednesday, but today is extra special for everyone in the building.
As part of Governor Josh Stein’s school supply drive, the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources gave a huge load of supplies to the students such as glue, crayons, bags, and much more.
Second grade teacher, Margaret Stallings says she loves this because she often has to use her own money to provide those items.
“As a mom myself, I don’t want a child to go without,” she said. “I’m first and foremost gonna make sure that everybody has what they need so we can have a successful year.”
Stallings isn’t the only teacher in our state who has to put her hard earned dollars back into the classroom.
