FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne Councilwoman Rohli Booker, leaders with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organization (AFL-CIO) and the City of Fort Wayne, and community volunteers will gather at Headwaters Park on Friday to set up and kick off the city’s Labor Day celebration.
The set-up will begin at 12 p.m., with the kick-off being held at 5 p.m.
Both happen ahead of the city’s Labor Day picnic, which will be held at the Headwaters Park pavilion from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Monday.
According to organizers, the event attracts thousands annually and is a time-honored tradition in the community spanning five decades.
It is free, open to the public, and will offer food and beverage options as well as a variety of family-friendly activities.
