WASHINGTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - Hospice of Washington County is calling for the federal government to reform hospice regulations.
Those hospice workers are set to go to Capitol Hill next month to call on Congress to make changes. It’s a simple message to federal lawmakers from the administrator of Hospice of Washington County.
“Quit hamstringing us and let us be able to provide end of life care that provides dignity and comfort to the individual,” said Administrator of Hospice of Washington County Katrina Altenhofen.
Katrina Altenhofen says the federal rules hospice providers work under haven’t been updated since Medicare first started covering hospice care in 1983.
This includes something as basic as who the government says should get hospice care.
