COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Palisades Nuclear Plant in Covert Township is coming back online after it was cleared to return to operational status. While it won’t be producing power for a little while, activity is already picking up.

Covert Township Director Daywi Cook told News 8 that township leaders are already having lodging conversations about how to house the influx of workers attending to the plant as it ramps back up to energy production. The plant has also opened an overflow parking lot and is operating shuttles at a consistent clip in and out of the facility, in addition to truck and technician traffic.

In terms of next steps for the plant, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission told News 8 it’s all about fuel.
