CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) -- Multiple students at Broad Creek Middle School in Carteret County were provided with medical attention after ingesting candy-like substances.

According to a press release, the school staff responded immediately and provided care until medical professionals arrived. Officials said all students involved appear to be okay.

The families of the students involved were contacted directly, and several students were transported to Carteret Health Care.

“The safety and health of our students remain our highest priority,” said Principal Jenny Bell. “We deeply appreciate the quick actions of our staff and the tremendous support of the emergency response teams who worked together to care for our students.”
