SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - The Powerball jackpot soared to $850 million Wednesday evening after no winners emerged in Monday night's drawing, making it one of the largest prizes in the game's history.

In South Carolina, purchasing lottery tickets has become more convenient since July 1, as residents can now use debit cards at participating retailers. This change has led to a 4.5% increase in lottery sales at these locations, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

Brian Azcarraga, manager of Swift Stop, noted that allowing debit card purchases has been popular among customers, as it removes the need for additional ATM fees.
