An extensive search for man who remains on the run after allegedly killing two police officers continues on Thursday in north-east Victoria.

Dezi Freeman, a self-declared "sovereign citizen" who is known to police, is accused of fatally shooting two officers as they carried out a search warrant at his Porepunkah property on Tuesday.

Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart, 35, have been identified as the slain officers, while another officer was also injured.

Freeman, previously known as Desmond Filby, was last seen wearing khaki tracksuit pants with a dark green rain jacket as he fled into the bush from the Rayner Track property.
