A Deer Lodge man was sentenced Wednesday to 21 months in prison due to illegal possession of a firearm, federal officials said.

Christopher Allen Rochon, 42, pleaded guilty in April to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. According to the Gun Control Act, a “prohibited person” is one who may not ship, transport, receive or possess firearms or ammunition due to their criminal history, the Montana U.S. attorney's office said.

After serving his time in prison, Rochon will have three years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme.

Court documents allege that on June 17, 2022, Rochon was convicted of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute in Powell County. He was sentenced to six years in the Montana Department of Corrections, wit
