HELENA — When Eric Peterson decided to step down as the head coach of the Helena High girls basketball team in 2020, he said the timing was just right.
And approximately five years later, the timing was right for Peterson to throw his hat in the ring to be the athletic director of the Helena Public Schools, a job he was eventually hired for to replace the retired Tim McMahon .
The three-time state championship-winning head coach for the Helena girls basketball program, bringing home titles in 20216-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19, officially took over the position on July 1.
