An 8-year-old was rescued Monday after jumping from the second floor of a burning Asbury Park house and into the arms of two police officers and a neighbor, authorities said.

The child was caught by Asbury Park Police Officers Dewitt Bacon and John Walsh and local resident Joseph Dunbar after leaping from the window of the Prospect Avenue home, police said.

Video released Tuesday by the department shows the moment the child was told to “just jump” after pushing the screen off the window.

“Asbury Park police officers train for fast-moving, dangerous situations, and yesterday’s rescue shows the value of that training and the strength of our community,” Asbury Park Police Director John B.
