The representative and national president of the opposition Institutional Revolutionary Party, Alejandro Alito Moreno, was the protagonist of an embarrassing spectacle while the Mexican national anthem was playing, when he attacked the president of the Senate of Congress, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, who tried to restrain him and ended up fighting.

Alito continued throwing punches, and PRI representative Carlos Mancilla joined in, hitting and knocking down a communications photographer from the Permanent Commission's presidency. In the middle was the vice president of the board of directors, Dolores Padierna, who had to step aside to avoid being hit as well.

Noroña retreated, but Alito followed him and hit him in the back.
