MCLEAN COUNTY, Ky. (WFIE) - Summer Break has officially come to an end for Tri-State students.

August 27th marks the start of McLean County Schools, the final district in our area to start.

McLean County High School Principal, Marc Searcy, commented on the new school year.

“Some of them are really excited, some of them look half asleep, and some of them look scared to death, so that’s kinda what we’re looking at,” Searcy stated.

School officials say the reason for the late start is because they have adopted a variable school schedule.

They say this variable schedule lengthens summer break to allow more time to prepare for the school year.

With fewer days on their district calendar, the school days are longer -- so officials say they have to get into the groove quickly.
