BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge family is displaced after a house fire caused significant damage on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The fire broke out at around 2:07 p.m. at a single-family home on the 10300 block of Toledo Bend Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find residents already outside and heavy smoke coming from the roof.

Crews say the homeowner directed them to the garage, where flames had spread into the attic. Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread to the neighboring homes, but the house sustained smoke and water damage.

Five people were home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported.
