DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Every parent’s worst nightmare became reality for some in Minneapolis Wednesday; now local mental health professionals are urging people to seek help as we head into the school year.
Psychotherapist Michael Clabaugh, who works with patients dealing with PTSD, anxiety, and grief, said he expects high levels of anxiety among parents and students in the coming weeks.
“Anxiety with children today and adolescents is much higher than it was, and it continues to increase,” Clabaugh said.
Over the past decade, there have been over 1,300 school shootings in the U.S., resulting in over 500 deaths; and these statistics keep the conversation of school safety a priority concern.
