A portion of Fourth Avenue in downtown Whitehorse will be closed temporarily on Aug. 28 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The section of the arterial route through the city will be closed to traffic between Hoge Street and the Robert Service Way roundabout. Detours to redirect traffic will be in place, according to a city notice released Aug. 27.

The closure is to allow for repair work on the railway crossing on that section of road and make it safer for road users.

While the repairs are happening, all road users — including transit buses — will be redirected. Bus routes 101 and 202 will be impacted, with riders being asked to get off the bus at the Yukon Visitor Information Centre on Second Avenue.

Bus routes 102, 201 and 302 won’t be impacted, however, according to the City’s advisory.
