CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — A deadly police shooting in Chandler last week is raising questions as to whether police should’ve opened fire in a busy intersection on an armed man.
Police were chasing after a home invasion suspect carrying an AK-47.
Experts say this all happened in a split second. The man, later identified as Enrique Lopez Gress, was running in traffic near McQueen and Pecos roads on Thursday morning and reportedly had an AK-47 with him.
But, it does appear from the video Arizona’s Family obtained that when police opened fire, Gress was running away from them.
Officers say it all started when Gress was breaking into a house. When officers arrived, he drove away, sparking a pursuit.
They say Gress hit several cars, including a police cruiser, before officers boxed him
