FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — A wave of fake emergency calls is hitting university campuses across the country, including in Arizona.
Students at Northern Arizona University on Monday were evacuated and police cars swarmed the campus after receiving reports that a gunman was inside the school’s library. A few hours later, students were notified that this threat was false.
This incident is just one of dozens of false threats college campuses have received within the last month, including the University of Arkansas , South Carolina, Tennessee and more.
Mo Canady, the executive director of the National Association of School Resource Officers , says that this trend is what they call swatting.
