(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department arrested a 47-year-old man on Tuesday after being identified as the suspect in a homicide case from Aug. 10. Video Above: Advocate expresses support for new gun control legislation amid son's death

A comprehensive investigation led by SPD detectives identified Sacramento resident Edward Nelson, who is now facing homicide-related charges, officials said.

According to SPD, in the area of 12th Street and Blues Alley, a man was found in the street around 2 a.m. with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was treated with emergency medical aid, but despite efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel.

SPD has not released the victim's identity.
