NORTHPORT, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A turnover on the Northport City Council as newcomer Turnley Smith defeated incumbent Christy BoBo in the District One race.

Smith summed up what he felt the election was all about.

“Cleaning up election day. We’re handling it like it’s a high school. It’s a city-government-election. I think we need to clean up things and get professional,” said Councilman-elect Smith.

Northport city election records show just over 20% of registered voters turned out to vote.
