LEELANAU COUNTY — Kasson Township leaders want to build a new fire station.
It would be located at the intersection of M-72 and Maple City Road. The Kasson Township Board says the idea would be to reduce response times and improve fire service.
The new station would be paid for by a 25-year, $5.8 million bond to be put on the November 2025 ballot.
If approved by voters, the township board says the money would only be used for the construction, furnishing and buying equipment for the new fire station. It would be operated by Cedar Area Fire & Rescue (CAFR). Kasson Township owns CAFR along with Centerville, Cleveland and Solon Townships.
The Kasson Township board will be hosting two open houses to give the public the opportunity to get a look at conceptual drawings, talk to board members
