Putting an end to the dangerous cycle of opioid addiction starts with treatment and taking the step to recovery.
BAART Programs Omaha West is raising a red flag through an overdose awareness event, offering up support and free life-saving tools.
Dan Coldeway is ten days sober and on the road to recovery after more than 20 years of addiction that began in eighth grade with painkillers.
"I never, ever gave myself a chance before," Coldeway said.
His dangerous dependence took over his life, with the financial toll reaching nearly $500 a day.
"I feel like the last time I've been myself was in 8th grade," he said. "The money toll is probably equally insane," he added, estimating it was "probably close to like 500 a day."
Now, Coldeway has had the same couple hundred dollars
