OAKLAND—Police officers from the Oakland Police Department received a call of a stabbing on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at around 6:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of 81st Avenue.

Arriving on the scene, the officers saw a female victim with many stab wounds. Officers immediately administered first aid, applying tourniquets and pressure to control bleeding, stabilizing the victim until Falck Ambulance arrived, transporting the victim to a local hospital.

Police officers S. Durkin, L. Roman and E. Varela from the Oakland Police Department are being commended for their quick and efficient actions, saving this female victim’s life. Her medical team has last listed her in stable condition.

While the aforementioned officers were providing first aid to the victim, the perpetrator returned to the scene
