LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's been nearly two decades since Hurricane Katrina ripped through the city of New Orleans, and the memory hits different for survivors like Sylvia Plummer.
"I was working like everybody else that was in New Orleans, and we thought 'Oh, we'll ride it out,' you know, nobody thought it was going to be as bad," Plummer said.
Plummer was 20 years old and pregnant when she was forced to evacuate.
"It was nothing in your mind that said 'I'm not coming home,' like this is about to be a different type of hurricane," Plummer said.
She says her family stayed in Memphis for one night, and then she ended up in Little Rock at UAMS.
"The night that I got here, I went into labor," Plummer said.
