The North Bay Battalion’s training camp saw nine players and three goaltenders depart Wednesday, leaving a total of 44 still listed in contention for roster spots with the Ontario Hockey League club. Three veterans, in Mike McIvor, Charlie Larocque and Jack Lisson, were joined by Cole Vreugdenhil, a fifth-round pick in the OHL Priority Selection in April, as the surviving goaltenders after cuts were made following the first of the day’s two intrasquad games. Twenty-five forwards and 15 defencemen remained in the battle to start the campaign with the Troops, including Russia’s Evgeny Dubrovtsev, a first-round pick in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft in July.
