The Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph is set to welcome 20 students from Northern Ontario next week, including Sudbury’s Emily Van Rassel, as part of a new program designed to tackle the growing shortage of veterinary services in the region.

The collaborative Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, a partnership between the University of Guelph and Lakehead University , aims to improve access to veterinary care in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Northern Ontario. The program combines Ontario Veterinary College’s internationally recognized veterinary education with Lakehead’s longstanding commitment to supporting northern communities.
