A woman in her 70s was stabbed and critically injured Wednesday at a grocery store on Baseline Road, according to Ottawa police.
In a news release Wednesday night, police wrote the woman entered the store at the corner of Woodroffe Avenue around 1:35 p.m. with a friend. She was then approached by a man who stabbed her.
Officers arrested a man at the scene "without incident," police wrote, and staff at the store helped the victim. She was taken to hospital and released later that day.
The suspect is expected to appear in court Thursday morning. Police said they expect to lay charges.
