Bryton Bongard of Wahnapitae said Wednesday he still doesn’t know what will become of his 16 canines, only that his time with them is limited. They have wolf blood in them — 50 per cent in some cases, less in others — and that isn’t legal in Ontario.

He’s been told by the Ministry of Natural Resources that he will have to part with them, and he accepts that decision. The agony for him is not knowing where they might get taken, or if relocation is even still an option. His greatest fear is they will get put down.
“I know I did wrong and don’t have a problem paying for my consequences,” he said. “It’s just the unknown — why am I in the dark here?”
