The NBA’s former Rookie of the Year, league MVP and Hall of Famer is coming back to Greensboro to have an outdoor court where some of the area’s best basketball players scored goals, named in his honor.
Formerly known as the court at Benbow Park, it will be named Bob McAdoo Basketball Court during a ceremony on Sept. 21.
Robert “Bob” Allen McAdoo Jr, who was a starter for the UNC Tar Heels while in college, is scheduled to be there. At 73, he is a scout for the Miami Heat.
McAdoo could not be immediately reached.
Patrizia McAdoo said her husband is a very humble man, but hearing him talk about the Benbow Park court bearing his name brings him so much joy.
“I think he’s very honored, “ Patrizia McAdoo said of his getting the call.
