A 32-year-old man has been charged with serious offences after kidnapping a 44-year-old man in Hunter Valley.

It is reported by police that between August 10 and August 24, a 44-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped and held against his will by a man aged 32.

The 32-year-old man was known to the 44-year-old.

On Sunday, the older man ran from the vehicle he was held at while the younger man was asleep.

This happened after the vehicle parked at Buchanan around John Renshaw Drive.

Nearby motorists stopped to assist the man after seeing him exit bushland on the nearby Hunter Expressway.

The man was later treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He was later taken to hospital for further treatment.
